Twelve Great Sites on How to Make Your Own Minis
I am only a DIYer when the mood strikes me or if I am too cheap to buy something that I think I can make myself. So, I haven’t written any posts on “how to make” minis because, frankly, I lack the expertise. However, I am including links to some sites where you can go if you want to make your own miniatures. Why? If you want to save money on your miniature obsession, these free guides and videos may help. I will update this list as I find more sites.
Library and Museum websites
It is easy to make a mini-book. Even I, as an untalented crafter, made a miniature book when I was seven. Depending on how you plan to use your books, this link might be a useful how-to guide

These are mini books with blank pages inside, which you can customize. However, if you are a collector of miniatures, there are miniature books with actual print and illustrations inside!
Also, check out The Mini Time Machine Museum in Tucson AZ. It has some interesting DYI guides. Tutorials include making a mini photo album, a tiny jack in the box, a little watering can, and a mini Butterfly shadow box.

Additionally, I found a blog that offers free printables to make your own miniatures. It’s Jennifer’s Printables and I’ve downloaded and printed some of her floor printables. However, she has printables for grocery products, wallpaper, magazines, and more.
Hobby Websites
I thought that craft stores were the obvious place to look for guides on how to make miniatures. But, big box craft stores don’t seem to cater to miniature hobbyists. However, I looked online and found specialty craft sites with free how-to guides.
